Yesterday we hosted an online study for the book, Awake: Doing a WORLD of Good One Person at a Time by Noel Yeatts. If you’re interested in coming along with Noel Yeatts, Michele-Lyn Ault, Kris Camealy, Dan King, Barbie Swihart, and I on this journey to live life fully awake, click {here}.

Today we’re back on our series, 31 Days {In Pursuit} Of Your Child’s Heart. To keep on schedule, we’re doubling up. But don’t get scared. It’s the weekend and the last thing I want is to take up your time. We’re keeping it simple.

Day 18: Unwired

We live in a technology-led world. Chances are you have a smartphone, an iPad, a laptop, a Kindle, or some other device dinging and beeping for your attention. In the middle of devotional time, “ding”. In the middle of school time, “ding”. In the middle of dinner time, “ding”. Even at bed time, “ding”.

The funny (or maybe not so funny) thing about technology is how accustomed we’ve become to answering those “dings” and “beeps”.

“Oh, hold on a minute…” and off we go to answer someones text, inbox, status update, or email.

What would a day looked like if we put the electronics away? Facebook will be just fine without us.

Today’s Challenge

Today, let’s put our gadgets away long enough to pay attention. If we’re going to live {In Pursuit} of their hearts, we must be able to give them our undivided attention. Perhaps then, we’d be better able to hear the whispers of their heart.

Day 19: Weekend Recap

This week we shared the importance of a quiet time with God. We talked about the value in instructing our children in the word. We talked about overcoming frustration by looking for the glimpses of God during our every day. Have you seen any? And lastly we talked about delighting in our children (this one’s my favorite!).

I really enjoyed writing each post this week. I thought I was going to share with you ways to win your child’s heart, like cuddling up on the couch with them to read or playing with them. Although I imagine some of those things will come up closer to the end of the series, I’m surprised at the direction God took us. I feel like He’s going deeper to the core of what hinders our relationships with our children.

I’ve seen Him wove important lessons through this series, and I’m paying attention. How about you?
