Blog With World Help {Change The World!}

“Mommy, I want a Sparkle Box that reaches all the way to the ceiling. I want one so big we need a ladder to climb to the top!”

One look at those sparkling, big, brown eyes and I knew she was completely serious. Her smile revealed two dimples, one on either side. Her enthusiasm, her delight, and her big dreams revealed her generous heart.

“Wow, a Sparkle Box that reaches to the ceiling, eh?! That would be amazing. What would we do with a Sparkle Box that big?”

“We could help all the poor children, Mommy. We can get all of them food and clothes.”

Lord,‘ I thought, ‘Give me that kind of faith. Give us a Sparkle Box so big we need a ladder to climb to the top!

Game Changers

Sparkle boxes and 2-minutes interactions, like meeting Karim, are game changers. They awaken that part in our spiritual DNA where compassion, mercy, and justice are embedded; that part of us that is oh-so-very-much-like-our-Father.

Somewhere along the line we were hushed to sleep by culture and materialism. Apathy and indifference set in…

Until we experienced those game changers. They awaken our faith and they remind us we were created to make a difference.

The Story Starts With You {and me}

I was given the awesome opportunity and privilege to partner with World Help. Together, we tell the story of God’s people serving as the hands and feet of Jesus. Here’s one of the many stories that moved my heart and compelled me to action. Watch as World Help rescues over 1000 babies.

Call To Action

Perhaps you feel like I did at first, overwhelmed and too small to make a significant impact. Can I encourage you to look past the gravity of the situation and instead look at the big God we serve? I am believing God is answering the prayers my daughter and I prayed months ago.

Hers, “I want a Sparkle Box that reaches all the way to the ceiling. I want one so big we need a ladder to climb to the top!”

Mine, “Lord, give me that kind of faith. Give us a Sparkle Box so big we need a ladder to climb to the top!”

And so, I move in faith. With my heart awakened and my mind enlisted for His service. God will provide the resources and the words needed for this part of my journey.

My friend, I extend this same invitation to you. Won’t you join me and be a part of the life-changing work happening at World Help.

Can you sense God’s heart for the poor and needy?

Matthew 25: 34-35 says, Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,”.

  1. In Him Inspiration

    Powerful! If everyone did what they could…It starts with me. Thanks for posting this!

  2. Just Loved this! Your little girl sounds like my own! Thanks for sharing!

  3. I couldn’t write my post without the tears flowing. I want a sparkly box too, a big one! Oh friend, this is absolutely beautiful!

  4. Darlene,
    Loved your story. I am always fascinated at what different people do with the same prompt and different hearts. Wish I had a big ol’ sparkly box too. Thankfully, I do have Grace.
    Peace and good to you in Jesus’ name.

    • Thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit}, Chelle. It’s always so much fun to connect with our readers. Our Sparkle Box is a red, cardboard box from the Dollar Store, but one day it will look much different;) It still amazes me how far that dollar has taken us… life transforming!

  5. Love the story you share here, and your heart. Your words have stirred me, and reminded me this morning why it’s necessary, all so necessary. I shared your post on my Facebook page, and will share on Twitter later today. This post was pretty fabulous! Thank you!

    • I watched the Baby Rescue Story and my heart broke. When I’m not sure I can make a difference, I remember that child-like faith is all that’s required. Thank you for sharing this wonderful part of God’s story with me. I can’t tell you just how much it has blessed me already 🙂
