5 Minute Friday: Small

It’s called 5 Minute Friday’s.

It’s a group of writers, who after receiving a word prompt, have 5 minutes to write. Lisa-Jo Baker challenges us to write for 5 minutes with no grammar rules, no editing, just set the timer and Go! Want to join us? Find out how, {here}.

Here I….

Small. Seemingly insignificant.

That’s the place where it all begins.

It’s the place where one little action

paired with another

gets the train moving.

Small. Seemingly insignificant.

That’s the step, that

when added to another,

gets us further than we

ever imagined.

Small. Seemingly insignificant.

They’re the actions

that make the difference.

You don’t have to understand them.

You don’t have to approve.

You don’t have to agree.

You must simply know

that I am able

 to make these decisions.

Small. Seemingly insignificant.

I’m reminded…

“Do not despise small beginnings.”

  1. Thank you for such encouraging words. I really enjoyed hearing your voice in this post. You did this word justice today.

“Your beginning will seem so small, since your future will flourish.” Job 8:7

    • Hi Debi! So glad you stopped by:) Love that verse. Small is so hard to consider when you’re chasing greatness. It’s been such a difficult lesson to learn, but it has also been one of the most life transforming ones. This moment right here… this small, seemingly insignificant moment, IS life 🙂

  2. Hi Darlene! Loved your offering this week. In the small, we grow. Great reminder of the significance of a little word that holds so much potential. Have a great weekend! Stopped by from Five Minute Friday!

    • Lisha thanks for stopping by! This whole “do not despise small beginnings” is something that has taken me so long to learn. There’s freedom in knowing that the little things add up 😉

  3. Gets us further than we imagined, and makes a difference. Love it.

  4. Loved this, Darlene! I wrote along a similar vein in my FMF post. Life is all about the decisions we make every day, and no matter how small they may seem, they add up to something incredible. Have a great weekend!! 🙂
