5 Minute Friday: Rest {I’m Late}

5minutefriday

It’s called 5 Minute Friday’s, but I’m late.

It’s a group of writers, who after receiving a word prompt, have 5 minutes to write. Lisa-Jo Baker challenges us to write for 5 minutes with no grammar rules, no editing, just set the timer and Go! Want to join us? Find out how, {here}.

I’ve avoided the {5 Minute Friday} sensation, until I saw this week’s prompt: REST. It seemed appropriate I should start here.

Here I go-

Go!

REST:

Rest, the ability to do so, eludes me.

How does one find rest in a hospital room?

How do you close your eyes with doctors coming in and out?

How does one rest without answers? Without a diagnosis?

How does one find rest when there’s a family at home to care for?

How does one rest when stuck between these walls, without anywhere to go?

And so, I close my eyes, with machines beeping, doctors chattering away, patients crying…

I close my eyes and remember…He is here.

God’s presence is here… I remind myself, “in His Presence there is fullness of joy”.

And when my tired and fatigued body is unable to sleep, my soul finds rest in Him.

I go to that place where it’s just Him and I. No disruptions, just Him and I. And for a moment, before the next interruption, I am resting in Him.

STOP!

Five Minute Friday

  1. Goodness, I was popping around the fellow FMF posts and found you. Father, meet Darlene where she is tonight – fill her with peace and hope. Flood her mind with your firm and true words. Bless her family with the same. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

  2. Hi Darlene, Wanted to see how you are experiencing rest and it looks as though you are, even through a difficult situation. God is good to meet us wherever we are. I hope you experience great peace and rest. Thank you for sharing and I’m glad I found you via FMF.

  3. Hi Darlene,

Praying that you get answers. It is sometimes small comfort that God’s timing is perfect when you are waiting, but I pray that you find comfort in Him. You are gorgeous, by the way!

    Visiting via Five Minute Fridays.

    Blessings,
    Selena
