This week’s topic was {Leaving A Godly Legacy: A resolution to live today with tomorrow in mind.}

We’ve reached the end of this 13 week journey through Priscilla Shirer’s book, The Resolution for Women. How appropriate that it would conclude with the end in mind.

For 13 weeks we’ve attempted to put the pieces of this puzzle together. We’ve looked hard at the difficult places of our lives learning what it looks like to be a woman contented, purposefully feminine, authentic, and faithfully His.

It hasn’t been easy to look ourselves, in all honesty, and deal with prioritizing what’s important, learning to esteem others with our time, concern, and attention. It wasn’t easy to talk about forgiveness and learning to release those who’ve hurt us from the cold and dingy prisons of our hearts.

Looking closely at the standards of purity and virtue we held onto, caused us to ask the difficult question, “Am I walking in integrity?” And tied to our integrity, was our heart. Were we living our lives with hearts after God? Were we operating in our gifts, talents, and time in a way that dealt with the need for us to care, to sincerely care, about the hurt, pain, and need of others?

We didn’t stop there though. Because after taking a close look at ourselves, we had to look at the areas of our lives that mattered to us. From fulfilling our husbands, to loving our children, and then living with grace– all these areas challenged us open our eyes to what’s in front of us, to evaluate where we stand, to dream about what these could look like, and then to make conscious decisions to get there.

I loved it! I loved being shown the true condition of my heart. Through prayer, through the Scriptures, and through the wisdom found in the pages of this book, I have been called to action. And though the process is not easy, I enjoy it nonetheless because it testifies that God is at work within me. It declares that God is not through with me, and that there’s more. So much more!

So what about leaving a godly legacy?

If you live out what you’ve learned in chapters 1-12, then this chapter will be quite simple. Look for ways to document your journey. Look for tangible ways to pass on the rich heritage of faith you’re daily living out.

Some ideas include, but are not limited to:

  • Create a Wisdom Journal.
  • Write letters for your children.
  • Journal things like your prayers, your day, the blessings and faithfulness of God.
  • Faithbooking. It’s like scrapbooking, except your document your faith journey.

Have fun. Take your time. Make it part of your adventure this year. One that will last from generation to generation.

Thank You

Lastly, I want to thank you for joining me through this 13 week journey of faith. Thank you for having the courage to take a look in the mirror and get honest. Thank you for showing up, week-after-week, with your brave face on and an open heart.

  1. Although I am not done with my book, I can see things shifting, I too love to feel that God is working in my life and as you say the process of confrontation is not easy but there is just something about being able to be transparent with someone who is on your side and will love you no matter what!
    Thank you for taking time to fellowship and letting the Lord guide you through this journey which has blessed me beyond words can express and I’m pretty sure it has blessed others too.
