{Taking The Long Route}

“When Pharaoh finally let the people go,

God did not lead them on the road that runs through Philistine territory,

even though that was the shortest way from Egypt to the Promised Land….”

(Exodus 13:17)


How’s that for an action plan? The people of God were just delivered from slavery. They all just left Egypt, the place in which they were in bondage for over 400 years. They were walking with the sweet sounding, fresh and invigoration words from Moses’ mouth; they were on their way to the Promised Land. Who wouldn’t be excited about that?

Sound familiar?

Have you ever gotten an amazing word so you get dressed, put on your walking shoes, call everyone together and prepare for takeoff? But then, just as you’re standing there ready to go, time passes and you find that you haven’t gotten too far.

Hey, what ever happened to my Promised Land? Seems to me that Someone [not mentioning any names… God] forgot about their promise….You know, I don’t want to seem demanding or anything, but I’m not sure what’s taking you so long, God. Could I recommend some suggestions. Perhaps you got a little distracted with so-and-so over there. Allow me to remind You that YOU SAID….

Sound familiar?

Boy-oh-boy, is it difficult to wait on God. Considering the fact that a thousand years are like a day to him (Psalms 90:4), waiting on God could be a problem… for me that is. I mean, what’s the point of waiting? What’s the point of going through this stinking process?   Read more …..
