{Checklist For Life: Week 12, Purpose}

The  Checklist for Life, book study continues. This week we’re talking about {PURPOSE}.

{SO FAR WE’VE TALKED ABOUT…}

If you’re new to the blog, you can view all past lessons here ->Feel free to go back and review and download the FREE Scripture Cards for each week.

(As promised, last weeks scripture memory cards on {Loyalty} are now available on the link above).

Here’s a tip:  (after you download the FREE Scripture Cards at the link above) I cut these out and laminated them. I then bought loose leaf book rings at STAPLES (office supply store), punched a hole through them and now my kids can study the verses anytime without losing any of the scripture cards (especially helpful when reviewing while on the road).

{LET’S GET STARTED}

Without further delay, let’s go ahead and jump into Week 12: Purpose, Why Me?.

{READ} first things first… let’s check out God’s word. What does God’s word say about {LOYALTY}?

  • Joel 2:28
  • Philippians 3:13-14
  • Ephesians 1:11-12
  • Philippians 2:13
  • Ephesians 2:10
  • Matthew 5:16

You may have a fairly good idea of what kind of work you want to do in the future, but that’s a whole different thing. When it comes to your purpose in life- the very reason for your existence- you are talking about something much bigger than any career could ever be. Your purpose is the answer to the question, Why was I born?

-Checklist For Life: for teens, Thomas Nelson Publishers

 For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

(Philippians 2:13, NIV)

 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

(Ephesians 2:10, NIV)

{ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION}

  • Why do you think you were born?
  • What gifts and talents do you have that may contribute to God’s purpose for your life?
  • Ephesians 2:10 tells us that God prepared works in advance, for us to do. Today, God already planned things for your life. Are you aware of that each day?
  • How can you live today with purpose and on purpose?
  • Have you considered praying about God’s purpose for your life? If not, why?
  • Pray God would show you how he wants you to live during this season of your life.
  • Use a test to discover your spiritual gift (1 Corinthians 12).

{HOMEWORK}

(pg. 62 in the book)

{NOW IT’S YOUR TURN}

If you’re going through the book study with us, now it’s your turn.

You are a person of influence in your child’s life. Don’t underestimate the wisdom and knowledge available to you (from God) as you lead your children.If they’ve already learned the story of Jesus Christ and if they’ve accepted Him as their personal Savior, then they must learn that they were created with purpose and on purpose. God wasn’t just sitting in heaven bored and decided to create us for entertainment. Long before the Bible was written, long before we were born, He had a plan for our lives. we are here for a purpose. They are here for a purpose.

Pray. Ask God to lead you in this conversation with your child. Ask God to give you wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment that you would be used in this most important part of your child’s life: understanding their purpose.

Pray with them. Then follow-up with them and ask them what direction they feel God leading them in.

{I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU}

So there you have it, this weeks study. Send me your comments and let me know how it went for you. I want to hear about it! And get ready for next week’s topic, {Overreacting: Time To Chill}.
