{Make Up Your Mind}

Good morning, ya’ll. I’m so glad you decided to stop by today. Why? Well, simply put- because today we will be ‘making up our minds’.

What does that mean?

For some it may mean making up your mind to live the life of purpose God has called you to live.

For others it may mean saying ‘no’ to that thing that you haven’t been able to get away from.

Still for others, it may mean breaking through barriers of habits and addictions which have left you stuck in your rut.

Last week, on {faithACADEMY} (our homeschooling blog),  I shared how the Lord took me to the book of Daniel  (in the Bible) after devotional time with my daughter. I talked about trusting God for our children’s education. Since then, I haven’t been able to get away from this book and all it’s nuggets. (At this rate, I’m having a tough time keeping up with my Bible Reading Plan for the year. It’s so hard to just rush past so much good information.)

To add to my fascination with the stories unfolded in the book of Daniel, on Sunday my Pastor preached on Daniel in the lions den  (or better put in her words, “the lions in Daniel’s den” {love it!}).

So what does all this have to do with ‘making up our minds’?

But Daniel made up his mind not to defile himself.

Daniel 1:8

Daniel was brought to Babylon along with a group of other young men. He was in a strange land. He was in a culture where other gods were worshipped. Everything was different. Rather than go nuts and sulk in self-pity and hopelessness, Daniel made up his mind. He made up his mind to keep God’s laws even in this strange place. He made up his mind. He was not going to defile himself.

We need that kind of determination. In the middle of our circumstances and trials, we need to resolve to move forward. In the midst of our tough situations, we need to trust God. In the midst of a fallen world, we need to make up our minds to not defile ourselves.

Make up your minds to be {In Pursuit} of God’s best for your life!

Make up your minds to be {In Pursuit} of the abundance of God for your marriage and your parenting!

Make up your minds to walk in your assignment!

Take out the pen and paper (I know I did!).

  • Allow the Holy Spirit to show you the areas you’ve been wavering in. Allow God to show you where you’ve lost hope (or perhaps, where you’ve totally given up).
  • Write it down. Write the vision for your life. What do you want your life to look like in the next 5, 10, or 15 years?
  • Pray. Pray. Pray over those dreams and goals.
  • Then make up your mind to pursue God’s best for your life!

You can be whom God created you to be. Don’t give up. Don’t lose heart. Don’t sit down and leave it to someone else.

In the midst of adversity, testings, trials, and uncertainty, make up your mind not defile yourself. Make up your mind to pursue God!
