{Victory, 5 Times Over!!!}

The enemy surrounds me. They’ve risen up against me. Five of them and one of me. The road ahead looks bleak, dark, and scary. How did we come so far to be left defeated? How did we come so far to be put to shame?

The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you, (Joshua 10:8).

{The Portrait Of Doom}

One of the definitions of fear given by Webster’s online dictionary states,  “an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger”.

Fear then, takes up root in our hearts when we anticipate danger ahead; when we are made aware that somewhere on the road ahead of us, we will confront something bigger than ourselves.

If this is so, then it is safe to say that fear is built on the foundation of ‘possible outcomes’.

Joshua and the men of Israel were fearful.How do I know? Because God addressed that fear when He spoke to them. Can you blame them? They were up against five different kings and their armies. Can it get any worse?

In their minds, they were entertaining the only thing that could come from facing five armies at once: defeat. They had their eyes set on the situation in front of them. Granted, it was a dreadful situation to be in. So ominous was their situation that it caused them to lose sight of the amazing miracles God had just performed.

I’m not talking about a paycheck-in-the-mail-new-outfit kind of miracle. No. I’m talking about crossing-the-Jordan-on-dry-ground-walls-of-Jericho-tumbling-down kind of miracles! Fear caused them to lose sight of the amazing victories they had already experienced.

And God, in His love and mercy, spoke to that fear. He said, ‘do not fear’…. Then He gives them a different outcome to catch sight of.

“I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”

{Fear Points Towards Defeat}

People of God, you are looking at your situation through the wrong lens. Fear points towards defeat. You see the trouble ahead of you and your heart sinks and your knees get weak. You hear the sounds of the opposing armies getting into formation, enclosing you in, and your heart starts beating a hundred miles an hour. You panic. Your vision gets cloudy and all you’re able to see is disaster ahead.

I remind you today of God’s word. Do not fear! Do not allow the thought of a disastrous outcome, which has not yet occurred, keep you from moving in your assignment. Men of God, women of God, God has already spoken the word. He’s already declared the outcome of this fight.

“I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”

{Change Your Perception. God Already Declared Victory!}

It’s time to change that false prophecy of doom you’ve been playing over and over in your head; the one that’s allowing fear to take up root in your heart. Discouragement cannot prevail when we keep our eyes focused on the promises of God. Fear cannot rule a heart anchored in the Lord.

Before, you moved in fear because of a ‘picture’ of doom. Yet God says, do not fear. Let faith arise. And let faith move forward with the absolute certainty of the future outcome: victory.

If God said it, then it must be so!!!

{Victory, 5 Times Over!!}

I know you’re feeling the heat in your current situation. The pressures have been laid on you full force. But stay with me. Focus. If you can trust in God… if you can put your faith on the victory He already declared, you will come out of this war having won the victory, 5 times over!!!

40 So Joshua subdued the whole region, including the hill country, the Negev, the western foothills and the mountain slopes, together with all their kings. He left no survivors. He totally destroyed all who breathed, just as the Lord, the God of Israel, had commanded. 41 Joshua subdued them from Kadesh Barnea to Gaza and from the whole region of Goshen to Gibeon. 42 All these kings and their lands Joshua conquered in one campaign, because the Lord, the God of Israel, fought for Israel, (Joshua 10:40-42).

Did you hear that?! Five Kings and their armies planned the attack against God’s people. And five kings, their armies, and their land were conquered, in one campaign, because God fought for His people!!!

I don’t know about you, but that’s reason enough for a praise. So excuse me for a minute while I shout a great big

See, you were minding your own business when all of a sudden the enemy conspired a plan against you. When he looked at you and saw that you were powerful and chosen of God, he thought, ‘I better up my strategy‘. So the enemy goes out and finds himself some more fuel to add to the fire. He sees fear rising up in you and he thinks…’oh yeah… we got ’em now!!

God said, He has given them into your hands!!

God said, not one of them will be able to withstand you!!

The outcome of this war has already been declared!

My friend, now is not the time to shrink back! Now is not the time to sit and wallow in this mess. Now is not the time to run in the opposite direction.

Remember, GOD SAID!!!

Get up. Put on the  armor of God (Ephesians 6:10) and attack!

Because you WILL come out of this fight winning the victory, 5 times over!
