{Week 5: Journey to Financial Freedom- Honesty}

It Monday!!! Yay! I love Mondays!

There’s nothing better than a blank slate, a fresh start, a new beginning. Mondays are just that! They give you the opportunity to start a new week and you have the chance to do things differently than you did last week.

This week, you can make the right choices. This week you can make the right decisions. This week you can take the right steps towards an abundant life in Christ!

This Monday takes us to our next stop… Week 5 of our Journey to Financial Freedom…. so buckle up and get ready to keep it moving. We are halfway through our  Crown Biblical Financial Studyand I don’t know about you, but the more I find out about what God says about money and resources, the more I realize how wrong I’ve been doing things. I am so glad that God’s word leads us to repentance, truth, and wisdom. It gives me hope that things will in fact change. The transformation has begun.

Before jumping into Week 5, feel free to go back and review, catch up, and then join us…

{IF YOU WANT TO GO BACK AND REVIEW}

{WEEK 5: HONESTY}

This week we are going to do something a little different. In order for you to learn what God has to say about honesty and finances, I’m simply going to take you to the Scripture. Go ahead, get out your notebook, pencil and bible and allow God to lead you through His word. Then let Him lead you in truth.

Ready? Set? Here we go….

(taken from pg. 60 –63 of the study)

God’s standard is absolute.

“You shall not steal, nor deal falsely,

nor lie to one another”

Leviticus19:11

God’s demand for honesty:

  • Leviticus 19:11-13
  • Deuteronomy 25:13-16
  • Ephesians 4:25
  • 1 Peter 1:15-16

Are you consistently honest in the smallest details? If not, what will you change?

What two factors motivate us or encourage us to act dishonestly?

Honesty for leaders. (Read Exodus 18:21-22)

Consequences for dishonesty for people in leadership. (Read Proverbs 28:16 and Proverbs 29:12)

Can dishonesty be practiced while fearing (respecting and honoring ) God? Why? (Read Proverbs 14:2)

Can you practice dishonesty and still love your neighbor? (Read Proverbs 26:28 and Romans 13:9-10)

Benefits of honesty:

  • Psalm 15:1-5
  • Proverbs 12:22
  • Proverbs 20:7
  • Isaiah 33:15-16

(some of the ) Curses of dishonesty:

  • Proverbs 3:32
  • Proverbs 13:11
  • Proverbs 21:6

What does the bible say about restitution? (Read Exodus 22:1-4, Numbers 5:5-8, Luke 19:8)

How will you make restitution for anything you’ve acquired dishonestly?

Read Exodus 23:8, Proverbs 15:27, and Proverbs 29:4

What does scripture say about bribes?

Have you ever been asked to give or take a bribe? If so describe what happened.

{NOW IT’S YOUR TURN}
