{The Family Binder: New and Improved!!!}

The {Family Binder} is here!!!!

It’s here!!! The Family Binder printables are finally here!!!

Back in September of 2011, I shared with you about our {The Family Binder}.

Have you ever wished you had a COMMAND CENTRAL at your home? A go-to place where you could find the important things necessary to run your household? Well, I’ve found some awesome family binders ideas online and with those ideas, I’ve come up with one for our family which I believe will work great!

This is pretty much what it looked like….

{Fast Forward March 2012}

About a week or two ago, I received an email from one of my readers. She has a son with autism and just had some surgery. She felt that the Family Binder would be a great resource for her and her families needs. And that’s where it all began….

So to my reader Ms. Nettleton, a great big “Thank You” for your request. It pushed me to move forward and design my very own Family Binder.

Last time I showed you my Family Binder, it was bits and pieces I found all over the place. I could not of course, post those printables due to copy write laws. It became necessary to create a Family Binder from scratch. And I could not be happier with the results.

Take a look at Ms. Nettleton’s Family Binder…

  5. Melissa Gonzalez

I have been looking for a binder to get my finances and schedule back in order… tired of the chaos.

    • Hi Melissa, I can totally understand being ‘tired of the chaos’! The financial section of this Family Binder is fairly simplistic. I am hoping to add more in the future. Subscribe to our emails at the top right side bar and be the firsts to find out about new updates.

One small piece of advice for getting out of the chaos… take one small step at a time…
Keep me updated on your progress 😉

  6. I love being organized, but struggle to keep up with it. I think a family binder would help out. 🙂

    • Hi Becca. Thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit}. I know what you mean about struggling to keep up with the organization process. It definitely is an ongoing pursuit.

I was sick last week and in two days things got a bit off track. However, since I’ve kept up with so much, once I got better, I was able to get things back in order in no time. Things didn’t turn chaotic.

      You can do this!

  7. Darlene,
When I found myself losing my mind over mate-less socks for my son and two bonus sons, I knew I had to get my house organized. My husband and I married and created our new family in June. I have gotten our house together and have started systems for our sanity; however, I am still indecisive about a binder. I realize I am not marrying the printables in the binder and can always adjust…so I am so glad to have found your site. I would love to start with your binder templates and add another step into our busy and blended family 🙂

    • Hi Rachel. Thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit} and congratulations on your marriage! How exciting to begin this new adventure of marriage and organization 😉

Starting those systems to save your sanity is one of the best things a new wife can do, so you go girl!
As for our {Family Binder}, yes, you do not have to marry it! lol. You can even just use what you need and keep it moving with your organization manifesto. Either way, I’m sure your attitude to find what works for your family will lead you to find a way to fully administer your home in no time.

If you haven’t already printed out your free Family Binder template, simply go to the right side-bar of the site, you will see a picture of the {Family Binder}. Click on it and it will take you to the post containing the link for the printable. I also have some additional pages for the binder on this post ->http://wp.me/p1GDsM-Fr

P.S. We have a blended family too. I pray you much success on this new journey 🙂

  8. it would come in so handy as we have 4 kiddos under 7 ans are homeschooling. there is just so much to juggle espicially with our main goal to dilligently teach our children of god

    • Hi Sara, thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit}. I have one daughter who will be six in a few months, and I am busy! I can’t imagine how you do it with 4 kiddos under 7. Oh but what a blessing!! Especially when you see them blossom and grow in the ways of the Lord.

I would love for you to download our free {Family Binder} template. If you haven’t already printed out your free Family Binder template, simply go to the right side-bar of the site, you will see a picture of the {Family Binder}. Then come back and let us know how it worked for you and what additions you’d like to in our future upgraded.

I have 4 months left of kindergarten, my first Homeschooling year. Do you have any first graders? I could use some tips!

  9. Hi Darlene,

Just wanted to let you know that I made my binder last night. I was telling Yari that I made my family binder and my coupon binder all one with different sections because I did not want to have 2 binders. I love it.
    Thank you for the ideas!
    Donna

  10. Hi Darlene,
I work with your sister Yari, and she told me all about your site. I have 4 small kids and I work full time here at the hospital. What an inspiration your site has been. I am slowly going to organize every aspect of my life. Thank you for taking the time to post all of this. I am making a coupon binder and a family binder in hopes that I will become just a little bit more organized.
    Thank you again
    Donna

    • Hi Donna. Thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit} and thank you for your kind comments. Let me give you the best piece of advice I have regarding organization and making life changes period…. Just take the next step. Do the next thing… That simple thought process has gotten me up from a couch when I didn’t ‘feel’ like facing my disorder. You can do this!

The coupon binder was a lot of fun to put together, but a lot more difficult to implement. My confession? I am still working on that one. The Family Binder, on the other hand, works wonders. Especially the cleaning list. Once you get your own flow, you will be able to do it without the list. You’ll see.

If you haven’t already printed out your free Family Binder template, simply go to the right side-bar of the site, you will see a picture of the {Family Binder}. Simply click and it will take you to the post containing the link for the printable. I also have some additional pages for the binder on this post ->http://wp.me/p1GDsM-Fr

Remember, this is not about perfection. It’s simply about pushing the laziness, procrastination, and disorder out of our lives so that we can enjoy what truly matters.

Let me know how it goes for you. I look forward to hearing all about it, Donna.

  11. I NEED a binder that fits my family and our particular needs. I have looked at oodles and oodles of forms, and like this and that from several, but I need one that fits my specific family. I pray that this is it!

    • Hi Kelly, thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit}! I know what you mean about trying out ‘oodles and oodles of forms’. I think that, along with a Comment from one of our readers requesting a family binder, was what made me create my own. I already had different lists and forms, but I wanted to put one together that would hold the important stuff, all in one place. This one seems to work for me. I hope it will be a blessing to your family as much as it has been to mine!

  12. it would help me have organized chaos instead of just chaos…hehe

  13. I am hoping a family planner would help us to be more effective as a family and accomplish more. It would also free me up as mom to not have to oversee everything and answer every question….and will help dad know what’s going on a bit more as well. 🙂

    • Hi Kristi. Thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit}. Take it from someone who had absolutely no home managing skills… One simple list, The cleaning list, which is in our family binder, makes a huge difference. If you can start with a list… You will, one step at a time, get your home in order.

If you haven’t already done so, on the right side of the site, you will see a picture of the {Family Binder}. Simply click and it will take you to the post containing the link for the printable. I also have some additional pages for the binder on this post ->http://wp.me/p1GDsM-Fr

  26. I would absolutely love to have these printables. I’m a grandmother, aka MEME to 4 granddaughters and I’m feeling God telling me over and over to take this opportunity to teach the girls at my home. This is quite overwhelming and I’m beyond a bit fearful! Me…teaching the girls?? Then I’m reminded that He will never give us more than we can handle! It’s such an enormus responsibility but one I’m looking forward to. I’m disabled and on a very tight budget as most people so that’s been my biggest excuse. How great is it that after pinning on Pinterest tonight that I ran across not only Homeschool Free Printables…but Godly ones!! I’m in tears just seeing what He is placing before me!! If these are still available I’d love them.
God Bless you for having your blog and links to so many others. I also noticed The Teach Them Diligently Convention on several blogs. I’m hoping to attend in Nashville!! Many thanks!!

    • Hi Bridgitte! Thank you so much for stopping by {In Pursuit}.
I can totally relate to the pressing of God on us to homeschool. It was such a scary step for me to take. I spent about a year and half praying and researching. We tested out Pre-School because I figured, “How bad can I mess up letters, numbers, colors, and shapes?” We decided we’d see how that went and if we felt ready, we’d jump into Kindergarten. Here we are, halfway into Kindergarten and I must say, it’s been such a blessing all the way.

As for the tight budget, let me just share, God has provided everything and more thus far. I am so sure if He leads you, He will make a way! There are so many FREE resources also. Check out my {RESOURCES} tab for a list of some. And check out this post by Erica at confessions of a homeschooler. This was so helpful to me. http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/blog/2010/11/candid-conversation-with-god.html

I printed it out and I remind myself, in the word, of why this is the best decision for our family. May God’s grace and favor be upon you as you take a leap of faith!

    • Nancy, if you read even a little on my blog, you’ll soon find out that I’ve been learning this thing called ‘organization’. I was a mess!!!

    • Hi Sharon, I can’t imagine having to manage 2special needs children in the home. I am sure though they are a blessing! 42. EmilieAn H. Kemper

    Hello,

My name is EmilieAn Kemper. I’m the mother of three boys, one special needs, and wife of a soldier. I have all of them in three different schools and one with special therapies; oh and piano, soccer, scouting, and church. When I do have help it is hard to make sure that all the rules and schedules are followed. It’s hard to get the help and keep it all straight. WHen husband is home it is hard for him to fall into the rhythm of all of it…and frankly it takes too long to explain it. He suggested making a SOP, military term for Standard Operating Procedures, for the house. I thin this family planner would be a perfect fit for us. Thank you for offering to give this amazing helpful tool to others. I would love to be one of those people too. May God bless you for your blessing of others.

    EmilieAn Kemper
    emiliean@gmail.com

    • Hi EmilieAn, it sounds like you’re quite busy. One trick that has helped me is the {20 minute cleaning challenge}. Basically you set the timer for 20 minutes and you push yourself to get things done. I am slowly implementing this 20 minutes idea to other areas of my life. Perhaps that may help.

  43. Our family was my husband , myself and our daughter for years and then it grew to the 6 of us plus our poodle. We always enjoyed a yearly NYE family vision planning session and put goals in writing, but I like the idea of all paper in a binder for each child’s events or just lists and numbers etc. So I wanted ideas on what tabs would be helpful and found you. Please send me all the free templates so I can print and use them to get organized. This mom of 4 needs it! greatly appreciated!

    • Hi Candi… wow, you have your hands full with a family of 6… but I imagine you also have hearts full as well! What a blessing! To get your free {Family Binder} template, check out {Life Projects: Get Rid Of The Mental Clutter} –> http://wp.me/p1GDsM-Fr

  44. Hello, I LOVE your site. I am in the beginning stages of creating a family binder and I would appreciate any pointers
    that you can give.

    • Hi Kim, Hi Sheryl, thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit}. With the family Binder, I recommend a thicker binder (3 inch). I also recommend that you simply stop and think about what’s functional for your family. For example. I like to have my bills (which are due) all in one place. I hole punch them and put them in the personal finances section. They can be filed once paid, or at the end of the month.

  45. I just came across your site and being a mother of 4 princesses ranging from from 21 years of age to 1 years of age can be very time consuming and chaotic. • Hi Tammy, Although I don’t have 5 kids (which by the way is such a blessing!!! you having 5 kids)… this year we added a ‘specialist’ also to our calendar. It’s amazing how confusing it can get quickly if you don’t keep track of things. I pray the family binder will be just as helpful to your family as it has been to mine! 52. Good afternoon. I just took a look at your Family Binder link, and thought to myself, “self … you could really benefit from this!” I have four children, and it seems that as they get older, it gets more difficult to keep track of all that is going on. And this school year is going to be crazy and I am going to need all the organization help I can get. My oldest is getting married. I have one child entering her freshmen year of college. I have another child that is starting his senior year of high school. And, I am homeschooling my youngest. I think that your Family Binder Printables are exactly what I need to make sure that, I am not only organized, but able to enjoy all of the wonderful milestones that are happening this year, as well.

  54. Jennifer Vasquez

I have a hard time keeping up with the details and I tend to get overwhelmed thinking that I have to do it all at once. This would really help me put it down on paper in an orderly manner. It would be great since I’m already so crazy trying to figure out my first year of lesson planning for my daughter and figuring out what I will do to keep the toddler entertained as well. Thanks!!

    • Hi Jennifer, thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit}. I know what you mean about getting overwhelmed. That used to be me all the way!!
A simple thing that changed the way my day goes is the {20 Minute Clean-Up} . You’d be amazed how setting a timer can get you motivated!

    • Hi Lisa! Congratulations on your decision to stay home and raise your children. My husband and I made this same decision in October of 2010. Let me just say, it’s not easy, but it is so rewarding! Thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit}.

Hi Darlene! I feel your family binder design is awesome! I am a married mother of two. My oldest daughter was in a car accident in January of 2011 with my husband while I was pregnant. She is unable to walk on her own at this time, but she is progressing each and every day. I think this binder will greatly assist my family in keeping track of bills due, doctors appointments etc. and still finding time to be a family!
    Thanks so much!

  67. Well where to start, I have 4 little ones ages 7-1 and I think having an organizational binder would help my family stay on track and be better organized. I think it would also help me schedual my time better. Thank you for making the unorganized organized!!!!

    • Hi Stacie!! Let just say that I am a recovering home administrator {laugh}. For years I struggled with disorganization. Years.
Finally, I knew things had to changed. After much prayer, I just had to make the decision to “do”. You know, implement the stuff that I already knew to do.

  68. Traci Rackleff

    Hello darlene,
I am a 46 Yr. old mother of 4 girls 1 of which was just diagnoised with adhd and and anxiety disorder. I was also just diagnoised myself after yrs. of trying to figure out why I couldnt get things done like “normal” people. I just came across your blog and fell in love with your family planner. I have searched and searched for printables and yours really hit the nail on the head for me. Not to mention the print is sooooo pretty. I really love the fact that you put in the school papers because with the begining of middle school for my daughter there will be alot of papers due to conferences and meetings with teachers. I would totally appreciate it if I could get your printables from your planner. Thanks sooooooooo much.
    Traci

    • Hi Tracy!! Thanks for stoping by {In Pursuit}. I am so glad to hear you are interested in {The Family Binder}. Having 4 children to take care of is no small order. I commend you for that! When it comes to working with children who are diagnosed with a disorder or disease, the stress level can multiply. Having to deal with medications alone is enough to drive a mom nuts. Thank God for grace and for organization systems, they help keep us sane 😉

  69. Cassie Starks

My name is Cassie and I have so much trouble with organization! I have been studying Proverbs 31, and attempting to be a bettter wife. Being more organized would help reduce my stress, and in return will help me be a better person.

    • Hi Cassie, thanks for stopping by {In Pursuit}. I can totally understand where you are. I was there (and some days have to fight to not go back there). Read this story, find out what changed it all for me… {here}
My advice is this. Pray. Then do the next thing in front of you to do. One step at a time. One day at a time. I pray you much success on your journey. Know that God loves you just the way you are. A clean and organized home will not make Him love you more. However, a clean and organized home, will bless both you and your families in ways unimaginable! God bless.

You can print out your family binder template here—> https://darlenecollazo.wordpress.com/2012/05/03/get-your-free-family-binder-printables/

  70. I have three children, and a husband and I need to become more organized. I have different folders etc for many things, which is confusing at times. I thought the idea of one binder was brilliant and cant wait to complete our family binder.

    • Hi Kori, thanks for stopping by. I know what you mean- about the craziness of having files all over the place. The {Family Binder} is great because you can have the papers you use all the time within hands reach. I do still recommend keeping a filing system of some kind for those papers which are important but not accessed regularly (like Income Tax records or appliance manuals). I keep a small black carry file for those.

By the way, don’t forget to stop by tomorrow and Tuesday for some FREE additions to the {Family Binder}!! Don’t you just love freebies?!!!

  71. Looking forward to utilizing {The Family Binder} to get my family better organized and keep the house better managed.

  72. I am a working mother of one that is wanting to get more organized and this will offer me that opportunity. I have done this before on a general level but I want to get down to the details level.

    • Hi Holly! I am so glad you stopped by and are able to use my Family Binder printable. I would love to hear how it works out for you. I’m looking to add more pages in the near future so keep an eye out for that. I pray it becomes another tool to help you in managing your home.

  73. Oh poo I missed this. The menu section is my favorite.

  74. I just came across the family binder templates that you have…this would be so helpful for me because I am a stay at home mom of two awesome kids and have a wonderful husband and try to stay organized to keep some sanity as well as giving me as much free time as possible!

    • Hi Maddy, thanks for stopping by. {The Family Binder} is definitely a great idea for a one-place-go-to area. I am also a stay-at-home mother (this is my first year). I have had to learn how to change the way I do things in order to keep my sanity as well. Although our promo for the free template is no longer being run, customized templates with your family name can be ordered for $15. If you are interested in a purchase, I’d be happy to get that right out to you. Just let me know.

I pray God’s strength and grace over your life as you navigate through these years. Have a great day on purpose!!!
