{Simplify and Organize: The Coupon Binder}

{Making Time Work For Me}

This week on {IN PURSUIT}

I am just so in love with Franklin Covey agendas/planners! Too bad they are a little pricey for my liking. So off I ventured to create my own version.  Why? Because I have learned over time, if you don’t plan your day life will fill up every single slot with numerous offers: Facebook, internet, books, television, phone time, game time…and the list goes on and on.

I have personally tested this theory. I have tried to use a planner which included appointment times, daily task lists and a slot for any journal notes along the day. I must say- my days seemed so much more organized and effective.

I know, I know, now-a-days we all have wonderful gadgets with their own built-in calendars and more. However, I still believe writing things down helps you remember things better.

And so, in my pursuit of a simpler, organized, and fulfilled life, I am creating my very own daily agenda… and yes! it is in my very favorite color, PINK!!!!

Join me tomorrow for the big reveal!! And stop by for a chance to win your very own printable 30 day agenda. It will be the perfect opportunity to see if this system works for you!

What else are we looking forward to this week:

  • Update on my Pursuit of a Healthy Lifestyle. Yes, I will give you progress reports, ai!!!!
  • Part 2 of {In Pursuit} my journey towards financial freedom. I hope you didn’t give up on your financial future yet! We’re just starting!
  • Our very first give-a-away:  one lucky winner will receive a 30 day printable agenda.

{My Food Intake and Exercise Diary}

Although I am well aware that there are online tools to help us track our food intake and our exercise regimen, I like to do things the old-fashioned way- right on paper. It makes me feel more active and accountable in my health plan if I have to write down my daily food intake and exercise.

Having it in a place where I can read it throughout the day (versus typing it into an online program and then closing the laptop and walking away from it) certainly makes me more aware of my progress throughout the day.

You can make a health plan for yourself based on your needs, goals, and lifestyle. For my plan I took into consideration:

  • how many meals our family eats a day (including snacks)
  • exercise
  • water intake

Once you decide what you would like on your plan, create a layout (I simply used Microsoft Publisher to create mine).

I came up with a layout plan, added color to it, and personalized it by putting my name on it. Yep! That’s right: I’m owning this plan!!!

So here’s what the end result looks like:

While writing this post and loading up my picture, I realized that it would be a fantastic idea to add a section to check off for “Vitamins”. I am so bad with taking my vitamins. Having a check off box for this would help me become more consistent.

Now I know that writing your food intake and exercise for each day may not sound like a great idea to some. I know, I know- you’re probably too busy for all this… well, kudos to you!

As for me, I’m on a quest to live an abundant life! And that, my friend, means conquering this part of my life. If I want to see different results, I must try something different. Logging it all in will hold me accountable with what I’m doing with my food and exercise on a daily basis.

I will keep you updated on how it works out for me.

Now comes my favorite part… if you have any suggestions on how to make my tracking easier or more efficient, please send them over. Or, if you just want to share what’s working for you… that would be great as well.  I would love to hear from you!

{Week 1, Journey to Financial Freedom, Part 1}

Photo © {In Pursuit}

Previously, I shared with you my quest to find financial freedom. Part of diving into this very scary area of my life involves surrendering to God’s truth about money and possessions. My husband and I married at 24 years of age, neither of us having obtained any good and useful information regarding how to handle our finances. Needless to say, the first 5 years of our marriage proved to be quite difficult.

I can honestly say, if it wasn’t for God, I’m not sure what would have been of us. It’s very hard to come into a new marriage and come head on with financial struggles. From an unexpected pregnancy to a total loss automobile accident, to numerous layoffs, to hospital bills, to a house fire- time and time again, we found ourselves up against the wall.

The past 6 years of marriage have taught me that at any moment, life as I know it, can change. Because of this, I have learned the one thing I can depend on, the one thing that is constant and never changes, is God. That alone has given me hope and strength to face life when life had nothing but difficulties to offer me. Knowing God is Sovereign and that He is in control of all things gives me peace.

And so, here I am, {In Pursuit} of financial freedom. God has amazing plans for my life. How do I know this? Because the Bible says so. I want our family to be in a position where we can advance the Kingdom of God. We are blessed so that we may be a blessing to others.

My husband and I have begun The Crown  Biblical Financial Study. You can purchase the couples’ set for $55.00 and the single set for  $45.00. I wish we had someone teaching us the things we are now learning. We would have saved ourselves so many headaches and sleepless nights. That is why I am sharing with you this part of my journey. Hopefully some of what we learn along the way will motivate you to take a good look at where you are in your own journey towards financial freedom.

You don’t have to cringe every time the mail comes and you know the past due bills await your attention. You don’t have to fear your future. You don’t have to live a life of anxiety and worry because of your finances. If your way hasn’t worked, why not try God’s way?

I have to run now, but join me next week as I share with you some of the things we learned in our WEEK 1 study.

So how about you? Are you {In Pursuit} of financial freedom? Or maybe you’ve already worked at clearing debt, making a budget, or organizing your finances, what did you learn? What tips could you share that might work for us too? I’d love to hear from you!

{The "B" Word}

{Pursuing a Healthy Lifestyle}

Welcome to {In Pursuit}. This is a place for me to document my journey through life. I am on a quest to live an abundant life. What does that mean? Well- for starters it means not living in fear… fear of success, fear of failure, fear of the unknown. Second, it means trying new things, learning new things, and pursuing new things. Lastly, it means moving forward full speed at my dreams, my desires, and my life. I want to live a life that is full. I want to finish my race with with a smile on my face and the knowledge that I lived it up to the fullest.

For me it means an abundant life in the Lord, an abundant marriage, an abundant relationship with my children, it means an abundant creative life- it means more of what God has for me.

How exciting, yet scary is that?

Well, I’m pushing through the fear barrier. I’ve heard it said that courage is not the absence of fear, instead it is moving forward in spite of fear!

So, there you have it in a nutshell.

I’m a woman {In Pursuit!}. Let true, uninhibited living begin!
